Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach, FL is a regionally producing theatre affiliated with Actor's Equity Association, The League of Resident Theatres, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, and United Scenic Artists. Riverside Children's Theatre, the educational arm of Riverside, offers classes, camps, and training opportunities in the areas of theatre, dance, music, and video for all ages on a year round basis.

Development Coordinator

Job Summary:
Riverside Theatre, Inc. is committed to provide a total theatre art experience that entertains, challenges, and educates both adults and children, by producing quality works from Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Regional Theatres with an emphasis on high production values; providing the community with a broad range of educational opportunities that will develop and cultivate artists and audiences, while building skills, creating a nurturing and collaborative environment for all artists, educators, parents, students, and staff.

The Development Coordinator will report to the Director of Development and will assist throughout the office when necessary. They will perform administrative duties related to fundraising, marketing and public relations and will gain firsthand experience in strategic
planning to increase the capacity of a growing non-profit organization. Additionally, the Development Coordinator will be involved in stewardship activities related to non-profit development and communications strategy for Riverside Theatre, Inc., as well as donor and grant research and tracking. This role is entry level and will serve as a catalyst for a career in non-
profit fundraising and relationship management for the right candidate.


Essential Functions:

  1. Assist with the creation and implementation of the Development Plan that incorporates a
    range of strategies including, annual appeals, major donors, grants, corporate and
    individual appeals, social media and special events.

  2. Support event and other committees, including taking minutes and sending them to
    committee members in a timely fashion. Work with committees and Director of
    Development in establishing and adhering to event budgets, assist with event preparation,
    and attend events to assist in set up, implementation, and clean up.

  3. Assist with the production and implementation of appeal campaigns and other
    fundraising communications and strategies.

  4. Assist in the writing of grant applications, grant research and tracking.

  5. Generate acknowledgements and thank you letters. Design and run reports and assist
    with database maintenance.

  6. Attend various networking events with Development staff to increase professional
    network, refine relationship management skills and enhance Riverside Theatre, Inc.
    outreach and capacity.

  7. Perform administrative duties as needed including filing, copying, sorting, mailing, etc.

  8. Position requires that the candidate attend events and special events on weekends and
    evenings as needed.

  9. A positive attitude and must have the ability to quickly shift between priorities.

  10. Other duties as assigned.


Job Qualifications:

  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of communication
    principles and practice.

  2. Knowledge and experience with data entry systems and reporting.

  3. Knowledge of social media tools, Facebook, Instagram, X (twitter), YouTube, TikTok.

  4. Interest and desire to learn how to become an impactful development professional

  5. Proficient in the use of various MS Office programs and Google Workspace.

  6. Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and follow through with minimal direction.

  7. Attention to detail, project management skills and being highly organized is a must.

  8. Flexibility in varied job assignments.

  9. Willingness to pitch in when/where needed.

  10. An understanding of and belief in, the mission of Riverside Theatre, Inc.

  11. Ability to work with compassion and patience.

  12. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  1. Maintain dexterity, vision and coordination, sufficient to perform essential functions.

  2. Ability to sit for extended periods of time for 6-8 hours a day.

  3. Must be able to lift and move full file archive boxes.

  4. Requires the ability to be mobile (including, but not limited to walking, bending,
    squatting, crouching, twisting, kneeling, reaching, etc.).
