Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach, FL is a regionally producing theatre affiliated with Actor's Equity Association, The League of Resident Theatres, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, and United Scenic Artists. Riverside Children's Theatre, the educational arm of Riverside, offers classes, camps, and training opportunities in the areas of theatre, dance, music, and video for all ages on a year round basis.

Associate Education Director

JOB TITLE: Associate Education Director

REPORTS TO: Education Director

JOB TYPE: Full-Time Salaried

DESCRIPTION: The Associate Education Director is an education position responsible for teaching, directing, and leading our community engagement programs as well as artistically contributing to the educational programs on site at Riverside Theatre.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Qualifying Teaching/Directing Skills in one or more areas of Directing, Acting, Music, Dance, and/or Choreography

  • Positive, upbeat personality with teaching experience

  • Ability to interact positively with youth, parents, coworkers, and community partners

  • Familiarity with literary and theatre material

  • Enjoys teaching and directing youth

  • Experience implementing and/or creating educational programs

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teach, direct, and/or stage manage Riverside shows, classes, and camps.

  • Be the primary instructor, director, and contact for our community engagement partners in Indian River County, including, but not limited to, Gifford Youth Achievement Center (GYAC), Gifford Youth Orchestra (GYO), Environmental Learning Center (ELC), Boys and Girls Club, and Youth Guidance.

  • Direct the GYAC students in an MTI Junior show that will be performed at the Junior Theatre Festival (JTF) in January in Atlanta, GA, in conjunction with Riverside’s own JTF group.

  • Lead, create, and direct the monthly Playtime in the Park presentations

  • Cultivate Additional Community Engagement Partnerships

  • Direct and coordinate Schoolsical after school outreach musical program

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Uphold the Core Values of Riverside Theatre

  • Assist and run education productions

  • Develop and teach curriculum for Community Engagement Groups

  • Develop and run the Playtime in the Park monthly performances

  • Participate in interviews and other theatre publicity events.

  • Represent Riverside Theatre in the community and schools in a professional, respectful manner

  • Supervise and teach children in class and camp settings

  • Serve as Child Supervisor for Riverside Professional Series when shows require child roles
